This is going to sound like an extremely odd question, but could you still try to help me out?

I was wondering the best way to phrase a young man explaining how his soul mate/ love/ wife grew up as a teenager, developing boobs and curves, and becoming stunningly beautiful, but he only got taller and more awkward? it's for a school paper so it needs to be phrased lovingly and appropriately.
